JAILHOUSE ACCOMMODATION
Your chance to Stay in JAIL, the only catch is that you have to pay for it these days! Our amazing building was decommissioned from the New Zealand Prison Service in 1999, as prisoners were moved to sites out of the city area.After an amazing renovation come and stay in a former cell in our hostel, but rest-assured we won't throw away the key, in fact you can come and go as you please! Jailhouse Accommodation in Christchurch's most unique and highly-rated youth hostel. Don't be put off by the word 'youth' though, as we welcome travellers of all ages (bring the kids to learn some history too) for an experience at our friendly backpacker accommodation. Our building is heritage listed and designed by Benjamin Mountfort in European Gothic-revival style. He was legendary in shaping Christchurch's architecture in the 1800's. We are family-owned by Grant and Kirsty and once the big renovation was finished in 2006 we have put our heart into making sure you have a fantastic stay. Our Manager Taz (The Govenor), Head Housekeeper Rose (Head Warden), Receptionist Nikki (Senior Warden) and our night managers will make you feel right at home! |
